Random Thoughts

Well I though that since I named this blog A Shell of Empty Thoughts maybe I should make a post of just random things ive pondered over the past few days...

  • Isn't David Beckham signing a 5 year $250 million contract with an MLS team kind of like Brett Favre recieving a 5 year $250 million contract with a Canadian Football Team? I mean its not like hes a player with tremendous upside potential (like that, Will?) or one in his prime. We all know his best years are in the past now. Oh, well. MLS competition will be as leisurely as a retiree golf game at the country club for Beckham.
  • When the Cowboys signed Van der Jagt I read an article that actually ended by saying "we'll see if Van der Jagt can do for the Cowboys with one leg what Romo has done with one arm." I wonder what that columnist is saying now.
  • If the New Orleans Saints wind up playing against the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl can we please not see a Peyton Manning childhood slideshow of his days at Newman every 5 minutes?
  • And if we are subjected to this torture can we please make a drinking game out of it. Think about it. Between the commercials and pre-game interviews/sappy montages you'd get paced quickly.
  • As many of you know I have been a fan of Baby Boy's "The Way We Live (Saints Remix)" for a while and have introduced many of you to this amazing New Orleans rap original. But I have noticed this song coming up everywhere, now. I mean its out of hand how many people know it. All of the people I work with are between 35 and 60 years old and they all know the song. I'm getting it sung into my phone from Philadelphia. There were 7 year old girls on the news singing the song. It's being played at every Saints game. Its the Number 3 most played song on B97 in New Orleans. Could this song be the 2007 version of the Superbowl Shuffle? Only in New Orleans...

Biggest Hits Of 2006

Well, let me just first start by saying Happy New Year to everyone. Over New Years weekend I ran into many old friends from Tulane. People I haven't seen in a semester and some I haven't seen in a few years and it made me think to myself its kind of odd how we lose touch with those whom we were once close with and shared many enjoyable life experiences. Sometimes life just leads us down different paths. Ok, well thats where I'm gonna leave off I don't want to be that guy who uses his blog to get all emo. No one likes that guy, anyway, well maybe some people do but that simply isn't my style. So with the dawn of a new year upon us I am making two resolutions. Granted I made them retroactively as of New Year's Day, but I am still holding on to them so I guess it works out.

First, let me start out with the amusing one. My friends know that I have a reputation for going out and being a tad ridiculous and that this ridiculousness usually involves me being a drunken ho and making out with random girls. Unfortunately, people seem to forget the attractive women I hook up with and only remember the well regrettable ones. And there are a lot of unfortunate situations I have put myself in, but I guess thats just part of the law of large numbers. So, yeah my first New Year's resolution is to only makeout/hookup with attractive girls. So far I'm batting a thousand for the year, but well I only have a small sample group of "ONE" for the year, but it is only the second day of the year.

My second resolution deals with losing touch with friends. Although I may not be the best about calling/emailing friends I am pretty damn good about facebooking them. This, however, doesn't let people know as much about what is going on in your life and well it made me rather sad over the weekend to have to catch up on two years of my life with some old friends. So, there it is, I'm actually gonna start updating this blog thing frequently as a means of letting y'all know whats going on with me.

So now you may be asking why is this entry titled Biggest Hits of 2006 and not New Year's Resolutions. Well this brings me to my last talking point. Many of my friends make the comment about how much they love riding in my Jeep with me to hear the "Spencer Music." Some have even commented how they can tell I'm driving on Tulane campus because they hear Pat Green/Better Than Ezra blaring from the Jeep. So as I was going through my iPod today trying to find the right song I noticed a feature that shows my top 20 most often played songs and decided to post it here for you guys so even those of you that haven't had the fortune of a "Spencer Music" experience lately can still know what I am currently jamming out to. But be forewarned, the "Most Popular" list really wasn't that surprising.

Hope you enjoy the tunes that have been the biggest hits in my world lately...
  1. Amarillo By Morning - George Strait
  2. A Southern Thing - Better Than Ezra
  3. Adilida - George Strait
  4. Louisiana Saturday Night - Benjy Davis Project
